In order to further regulate the jacket industry and market, relevant departments have revised the original national standards focusing on outstanding issues in jacket performance and quality. The new version of the national standard "Outdoor Sportswear Jackets" (GB-T 32614-2023) has been released in September 2023 and will be officially implemented on April 1, 2024, fully replacing the old executive standard GB-T 32614-2016 .

It is understood that the new standard is managed by the China National Textile and Apparel Industry Federation and implemented by the Sportswear Branch of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Sporting Goods. Enterprises such as Pathfinder, Li Ning, Kelashi, and Bosideng have all participated in this revision.

"Upgrade" and "Add"

Compared with the old standard implemented in 2017, the changes in the new national standard for jackets are mainly reflected in two aspects: "improvement" and "new addition". The former mainly increases the requirements for moisture permeability, abrasion resistance, color fastness and other indicators. The latter adds or clarifies indicators such as safety, color difference, and hydrostatic pressure.

In the new national standard, the standard definition of a jacket is "a garment with waterproof and moisture-permeable functions made of textile fabrics with waterproof and moisture-permeable properties for outdoor sports." It can be seen from the definition that the moisture-permeable performance is an evaluation An important indicator of the functionality of a jacket.

In actual use, moisture permeability is very critical to the wearer's comfort and body temperature regulation during outdoor activities. However, in the old standards, the moisture permeability was differentiated before and after cleaning, and the requirements after washing were lower.

In view of this, the new national standard has increased the requirements for moisture permeability: for Class I jackets, the moisture permeability has increased from ≥5000 before washing and ≥4000 after washing to ≥6000 both before and after washing; for Class II jackets, the moisture permeability has increased from ≥5000 before washing and ≥4000 after washing to ≥6000 before and after washing; ≥3000 before and ≥2000 after washing to ≥4000 both before and after washing.

In terms of the wear resistance of jacket fabrics, the new national standard also adjusts the outer layer fabric from the old standard of ≥10,000 times for tops and bottoms to ≥10,000 times for tops and ≥15,000 times for bottoms; the new standard also adjusts the fabric's ability to maintain color after exposure to the sun. The national standard increases the light fastness index for dark samples by half a level, from level 3 to level 3-4.

In terms of "new additions", in order to promote the green environmental protection of products, the new standard also adds testing of related fabrics that claim to use fluorine-free finishing products to ensure the safety of the fabrics of related products; and "discoloration after washing" that is often mentioned by consumers. Serious" problem, the new standard adds requirements for color difference, stipulating that the color difference after washing is ≥ 4 levels; in addition, the old standard only stipulates rope requirements for children's clothing, while the new standard stipulates that children's clothing should comply with the national mandatory standard "Infant "Technical Specifications for Safety of Textile Products for Infants and Children" has comprehensively improved the safety of children's products.

In addition, for testing institutions, the new standard also adds requirements for testing elastic fabrics and metal mesh in the hydrostatic pressure test to make the test data more stable and reasonable.

After the new national standard is officially implemented, what should be done with the jackets produced before the implementation date?
